Auricular Therapy actually means acupuncture of the ear.It was discovered that the ear has some 200 acupuncture points and treatment for certain diseases can be done by inserting needles at those points. 

It was Dr Paul Nogier of France, who came to the conclusion that there are some acupuncture points in the ear after making an extensive study of this system of treatment.He found the certain diseases were amenable to treatment if the needles are inserted at these points in the ear.This method came to be known as Auricular Therapy.Some call it acupuncture of the ear'. 

In this system of auricular therapy, it is accepted that all the blood vessels and veins go towards the ear.The ear is supposed to be an important part of the body system as it is placed just under the brain.It may be interesting to note that the position of a child in the womb is very similar to the shape of an outer ear. 

For diagnosis of the disease in this method, various points in the ear are pressed to find out where it pains. Once this is decided and finalised, the treatment is done by acupuncture.
